I Have These Dreams

I had a dream about you last night. 

We were at camp, 

Training the new counselors, 

I took pictures of the training, 

The fun games, 

And the bonding experiences. 

The last day of training, 

I made a slideshow for everyone, 

I printed some pictures out,

Gave them to some of the counselors, 

And to the staff as well. 

After the training was over, 

We let counselors stay longer to hangout, 

They were playing Star Wars mafia, 

And sat by the campfire and had s’mores. 

I sat behind beech dorms on a bench, 

I was editing the pictures from this weekend. 

You noticed i’m not at the circle, 

So you leave it, 

You go looking for me, 

When you find me you sit with me, 

As I show you pictures, 

You lay down on me, 

We slowly lay down on the bench,

As we continue to look at the pictures. 

We laugh and smile, 

You continue to hold me, 

As we look at the pictures. 

Eventually we get up and leave, 

You head to your car, 

I head to my house. 

Later that year, 

I go to the fair, 

My dad approaches me, 

He tells me he knows about us, 

I begin to text you about what he said, 

Before I press send, 

I look up and there you are, 

Standing on the other side of the barn, 

Looking at me and smiling. 

You begin to walk towards me, 

As I do the same, 

We continue to walk towards each other, 

But it feels like there is something pulling us back, 

We start to run but make no progress forward, 

We are stuck where we are, 

Then I wake up

I had another dream, 

All I can remember is you and me, 

Hanging out at a party, 

Talking with some friends, 

When you pulled me aside, 

Into a separate room, 

Moved my hair out of my face, 

And kissed me. 

That’s all I remember, 

But like the last one, 

It was you. 

So vivid and clear,

It was you. 

Your dark curly hair, 

Your beautiful brown eyes, 

The scruff on your face, 

Your cute crooked smile. 

I hate having these dreams, 

What do I do with them?

Do I tell you how I feel?

Do I keep it to myself?

I continue to have these dreams, 

Of you and I together. 

I don’t mean ambitions, 

I mean dreams when I’m sleeping, 

Dreams that feel so real, 

That they could actually be happening. 

These dreams contain energy, 

Longing to be loved, 

They contain passion, 

And a calmness. 

These dreams bring me happiness, 

These dreams bring me comfort, 

They bring me hope, 

But I don’t want to have hope. 

If I have hope, 

Then I look forward for something, 

Something that doesn’t exist, 

I ask my friends for help, 

I ask them how to get rid of the dreams, 

But all they give me is what I want to hear. 

They tell me we would be good together, 

We balance each other out, 

They can see us being great together. 

But I don’t want to hear that. 

I want them to say no, 

You two would be terrible together, 

You would probably kill each other, 

You would never work out. 

I want them to say that, 

But instead they give me hope. 

I have these dreams, 

But it doesn’t mean I want them. 

So here, 

You take them, 

And do with them as you please!

I had yet another dream, 

I had just gotten stood up

For the fifth time in a month

I went to a local bar to cool off and ended up getting carried away

I had too many drinks

And I was starting to act a little silly

The bartender was so nice

He made me eat some food

And he kept my drinks safe

While all this was happening 

The guy I was supposed to go out with

Showed up at the bar

With another woman

This made me so angry and humiliated 

I tried to find my keys to leave

But the bartender had taken them

I got out my phone and called him

I called the first person I could think of

Me: “hey so i’m at a bar and I can’t leave”

Him: “what do you mean you can’t leave?”

Me: “well the bartender took my keys and not I can’t leave

He offered to get me an uber or something

But we don’t have those here

I told him I can drive home

I’m good at driving

I am a confused,

No, I am a confident driver”

Him: “Don’t you dare drive

I will come get you, 

Do you know where you are?”

Me: “of course I know where I am at

I’m at the bar

Sitting on a chair

And where are you at?”

Him: “Just hand the phone to the bartender

So I can talk to him please”

I hand my phone over

The bartender answers all of his questions

Then handed my phone back to me

A few minutes later 

The door bursts open and there he was

Dark hair

Cowboy boots

Jeans and a nice shirt

He takes my hand

Leads me outside and to his truck

We get in and he drives away

We go to his house

Where he gave me water and some food

I ended up throwing up most of it

And then he gave me some clothes

So I would be more comfortable

And he laid me down on his bed

Put some blankets over me

Then he left to go sleep on the couch. 

I had a dream last night, 

But this one was different, 

I was with someone I didn’t know, 

He had dark hair and blue eyes, 

He was tall and fit, 

He was wearing a dark shirt with jeans, 

He had my hand in his. 

We were hanging out at a gathering, 

With his brother and a few more people, 

When we left, we went to his house, 

We stayed there together for a while, 

Enjoying each other’s company, 

Suddenly we were drowning, 

We made it to each other, 

The water split in two, 

We tried to catch our breath, 

But it was too late, 

Our lungs were full of water, 

Then I woke up, 

Feeling like I couldn’t breathe. 

I had a dream last night

He lived far away

I wanted to surprise him 

So I drove the 8 hours

He is worth the trip

He called me a few times

While I was driving there 

I had to lie

I didn’t want him to know

It was finals week 

And I have 7 weeks left of school 

Then I graduate

And I have people that want me

They want to work with me

I keep driving

It’s a long drive

But it’s worth it

I listen to music

I listen to sermons

Listen to podcasts

And to his voice

He has a company event tonight

My plan is to surprise him there 

But it’s black tie

And I don’t have a dress

I call his boss

He sent his assistant

She helped me pick a dress

And the company paid for it

The dress shop let me get ready there

I had 5 minutes before it started

I got in the car they sent me

It was more like a mini limo

It had champagne and snacks 

When I got to the event

I walked in big glass doors

With a beautiful marble floor

Everyone turned to face me

And there he was 

Standing in a handsome tux

His dirty blonde hair slicked back 

His tall figure just a few feet ahead

His boss walks up to him 

Tells him to turn around

When he sees me

In a beautiful 

Emerald green dress with an open back

With black heels and dangly earrings

He embraces me in his arms

I float in the air as he holds me

I stick to his side all night

As he introduces me to his work buddies

At the end of the night

We walk out the big glass doors 

He puts his jacket over me

Holds me tight as we get in the car

When we get to his place

He stares at me and smiles

Pulls me in close

And kisses me through the night

Then I wake up to face reality.

I had a dream where you asked me out

You looked at me

Made eye contact 

And asked me out on a date

You smiled your beautiful smile

Stared at me with your beautiful eyes

Showed your beautiful white teeth

And waiting patiently for my response

I thought for a moment 

Is this a dream or is this happening?

I tried to see if I was awake

But I was not

I looked at you

Saw you looking back at me

And all I could say was

That’s when I heard thunder

And my dream was gone

I dreamed about us, 

Someday being together, 

Staying in each other’s presence, 

Laughing and smiling, 

Mourning and crying, 

Dancing and sleeping, 

I dream about us, 

The house we have, 

The kids running around the house, 

The dogs outside, 

The crips country air, 

The perfect view, 

I dream about us, 

Doing ministry together, 

In our home, 

In our schools, 

And in our church, 

And together everywhere we go, 

I dream about us, 

Traveling the world, 

Going places we only dream about, 

Seeing cultures that surprise us, 

Eating food that blows our minds, 

Just benign with each other, 

I dream about us, 

All I want is a chance, 

A chance to see if it works, 

I want it to work, 

All I’m asking you is, 

If you dream about us too. 

I can see it as if it were playing from a movie

We are driving away in his car

Smiling 

Laughing

Talking

He’s holding my hand

As I stare mesmerized in his eyes

I don’t even know what we are talking about 

All I know is that he’s the one

Before all this

He woke me up in the middle of the night

Tells me to grab a sweatshirt and hurry

I grab my sweatshirt and head out my room 

He keeps pushing me out the door

I head to his car

He opens the door for me and I get in 

He doesn’t tell me where we are going

He just said it will take a while to get there

He said I should take a nap

I fall asleep

When I wake up

It’s still dark

There’s the sound of water

We are at the beach

We get out and head to the sand

He lays out a blanket and puts a basket down

Inside was a cute breakfast for us

He had everything we needed

We ate the breakfast and talked

I told him no one has ever done this for me

He said I was worth so much more than this

He told me how he felt about me

I cried and cried

He told me he wanted to pursue me

I cried some more

He comforted me

Then he kissed me

A few times

Then we watched the sunrise

We had to leave eventually 

So we packed up and got in his car 

And drove away 

I had a dream last night

About living somewhere else

Away from my parents

Away from my brother

Away from my grandparents

Away from my family

I had a dream 

About living in Ohio 

With three of my friends

In a cute apartment

Right inside Findlay 

It had 4 bedrooms

2.5 bathrooms

A large living room

And a beautiful kitchen

Beautiful appliances

And a good sized dining table

That will fit all our friends 

Hannah and I each had our own room

While Blake and Jared shared one

The other bedroom was our office

I had a dream last night

I was married to a farmer

Who raised cows, pigs, and chickens

He also had a few fiends of corn and beans

He also helped some other farmers with their fields 

Being married to a farmer

I have some responsibilities

I make lunches for the men

And deliver it to them 

I take care of the kids

As well as making sure

The other wives are doing well

Mentally, physically, emotionally, and spiritually  

I make sure the house is clean

The animals are taken care of

As well as the garden 

I am responsible for making dinner

Or deciding where we go out to eat

My brother in-law 

Was the pastor at our church 

His wife was the children’s director

And I was the youth pastor assistant

On top of that all 

We were homeschooling our kids 

And the other farmers kids

I had a dream last night

I just moved in to a new apartment

In a different state

Away from my family

I got a job as a youth pastor assistant

At a pretty big church 

As I was moving in 

I met a few neighbors 

My neighbor that lives right next door

Is an older lady named Beverly

But she liked being called Bev

On the other side of her

Is the discipleship pastor assistant

That also works at the church 

Let’s call him Caleb

He is tall and has blond hair

He drives a truck and in his apartment

He has a washer and dryer

Everyone in the apartment gets 2 keys

Bev gave her extra one to me

And I have mine to Caleb

And Caleb also have his to me 

As Caleb and I are becoming close friends

We start to hangout more

At work and outside of work 

Like i said earlier

He has a washer and dryer 

I unfortunately do not

So whenever I need to do laundry

He lets me use his washer and dryer 

Because of this

I let him come over for breakfast

And we eat dinner almost every night

One night,

We were taking dinner over to Bev’s apartment

She was not answering the door

We called her phone and no answer

She can’t drive so she has no car

We call her again and still no answer

Caleb went back to my apartment

And grabbed her extra key

We open the door 

And the food drops to the floor

Covering the entryway

Bev was lying on the floor by her couch

Caleb called 911

As I was seeing if she was breathing

She was breathing but not very good

We didn’t know what to do

A few minutes later

The ambulance pulled up

And took Bev away

Apparently Bev has no family

So we are her emergency contacts

We went to the hospital 

After we cleaned up the mess

The doctor said she had a heart attack

And we saved her life

Caleb grabs me and hugs me

As tears fall down my face

Then I wake up

I can see myself

Showing up to work 

2 hours before service starts

On a Sunday morning

Writing cards for my volunteers

That are working that day

I can see myself 

Writing curriculum for my volunteers

Having snacks for them in my office

I can see myself 

Having meetings in my office

With a comfy couch 

And a nice desk 

With the walls filled with bulletin boards

White boards and filing systems

Everything is organized 

Everything is how it should be

I had a dream last night

I remember a guy with dark hair

And a dark beard

And there were many other people there

But I only remember you

I’ve never seen you before

Except in my dreams

We were playing a game

In a large field with the other people 

You kept tackling me

And you would talk to me

You would say the silliest things

Just to make me laugh

And to distract me from the game

One of the last times you tackled me

You kissed me

And I kissed you back

Then something happened

Someone was coming

We all start running 

We got separated

We all ran towards shelter

We found each other on the way

You grabbed my hand as we ran

When we made it to the shelter

You were protecting me

Because whatever was chasing us 

It got inside our shelter

It was an ugly white witch 

She would grab all our people 

And spit them back out

With papers in their hands

The papers had their futures written on it

Eventually we were taken and got our papers

I read mine and it was about us

Our future together and it was good

But after you read yours

You stopped talking to me

You wouldn’t even look at me

I tried to see what your paper said

But I couldn’t 

You wouldn’t let me

Days go by

And you still wouldn’t talk to me

Then I felt someone grab my hand

I went to turn around

Then I woke up

I have these dreams

I have been dating this guy for a while 

Let’s call him Grant

He is the high school football coach

I am a youth director at a local church 

We both live in the same area

Away from my family 

But in his hometown

His older sister, Emily, 

And her husband, Charles, CJ

Both live close to his house

They have a baby on the way

Grant has a football game tonight

I was stuck at the church for a while

Getting some last minute things done

It was almost halftime

And Grant notices I’m still not there

Emily’s phone starts to ring

She sees it’s my mother

She answers

Em: “Hey Lori, What’s going on?”

Mom: “Emily, is Grant with you?”

Em: “CJ and I are at the football game

Grant is coaching right now, 

Is everything ok?”

Mom: “I just got a call from the hospital, 

They said there was an accident, 

Abby is in the hospital

We have been trying to contact Grant

But now I know why he isn’t answering.”

Em: “Lori, I am so sorry, 

We had no idea, 

We will tell Grant

And make sure she is being taken care of

You have nothing to worry about

I’ll let you know when we have updates”

Mom: “Thank you Emily, 

Ben and I appreciate you and your family.”

Em: “of course, 

It’s the least we can do”

Emily tells CJ to get Grants attention

They yell and scream at him 

But he just can’t hear them, 

The first half had 1 minute left, 

Emily and CJ decide to meet Grant 

By the entrance to the field

They find him

Emily yells, 

“GRANT, it’s Abby, 

There was an accident

She’s in the hospital”

Grant takes off running for his truck

Leaving the game behind

CJ tells the other coaches what’s going on 

They understand and continue the game without him

Grant drives stressed to the hospital 

When he gets there

He nearly breaks down the doors

He doesn’t know what room I’m in

He asks as many people as he could find

Till he found me

I was laying there 

With a tube in my mouth

Scratches on my face

My leg was all bandaged up

My ribs wrapped 

And my arm in a cast

I was unconscious

Grant stroked my hair as he talked to me

He told me to wake up

That everything would be okay

And that he loves me

The doctor came in not long after that

He said my car was hit by a semi truck 

The doctor said I should be dead

He said I clearly have an angel looking after me

Grant laughed as he continued stroking my hair

Tears filled his eyes

And sweat filled his palms

Hours went by

Emily and CJ joined in the room 

More hours passed and still nothing

CJ took Emily home

But Grant stayed by my side

At some point Grant fell asleep 

The next morning

I woke up with the tube still in my mouth

And a large hand in mine

I start choking on the tube

And Grant wakes up

He calls for the doctor

They pull out the tube

I continue to gasp for air

The doctor and nurses do their checks

Grant goes and finds some coffee

Comes back and finds me smiling 

We kiss

We hug

He sits beside me holding on to me

He says, “I’m never letting you go”

A few more days go by

I can finally go home

Instead of going to my third story apartment 

I moved in with Grant

It was easier this way for him to help me

Months go by and I’m learning to walk again

My scars have mostly healed

My strength is returning

And Grant has been nothing but a gentleman

One night Grant asks me to go on a date

Of course I say yes

This is my first time out

Other than for physical therapy and work

We go to this beautiful field of flowers

Not just any flowers

But a field of black eyed Susans (my favorite flower)

I’m distracted by the flower

And I don’t notice him on one knee

Just a few steps behind me

I turn around and there he is

On one knee with a beautiful ring in hand

And he says, “Will you marry me?”

I open my mouth to say something

Then I wake up in my bed

I had a dream last night

I was in a parking lot

Waiting by my car as a guy was looking at it

Everything was dark

But at least I parked by a lamp post

He didn’t know what was wrong

But told me to check it out in the morning

So I called “him”

I said “I am in waterloo and I need a ride

My car won’t start

We hooked up the jumper cables

But that didn’t work

We looked at a few other things

But we realized we don’t know enough 

And so I need a ride”

“Who’s we?” he asked

“Huh?” I said

“Who is WE?” he asked again but with some attitude

“Me and the person I was hanging out with?” I said vaguely 

“Who were you hanging out with?” he continued to push

“Just someone, can you pick me up or not?” I barked

“Yes, send me your pin and I’ll come get you.”

“Ok, thank you.”

I hung up and sent him my pin

I didn’t want to tell him I was on a date

But it would probably come up when he saw me

I sat in my car while I waited

I only waited for a little while

He pulled up right next to me and opened my door

“Come on, I grabbed you a blanket.” 

He said calmly without noticing my outfit

“I just need to grab my bag.”

I step out of the car

All dressed up

He looks up and down at me

So many questions in his eyes

I was afraid to answer then but he never asked

I grabbed my bag and go in the passenger side

I said “Sooooo… where are we going?”

“Well, have you eaten?” he asked plainly

“Yes”

“Do you need any groceries?”

“No, do you?”

“No. Then I guess we’ll just go to my place.”

“Ok” I said shyly 

A few minutes into the drive was complete silence

We were close to his house when he finally asked

“So, who were you out with?”

“Oh, um. Just with someone.”

“Someone being a guy?”

“Yes, I was with a guy.”

“Is he your boyfriend?”

“Ha, no. This was just a first date.”

“Oh, ok…How did it go?”

“It was fine, awkward, but fine.”

“How so?”

“He was too feminine for me and he had a lot to drink. 

I honestly stopped counting 

After he had three before our starting salads came out.”

“Wow! Where did you find this guy?”

“It was a blind date so I didn’t find him.”

I said with an attitude

“Well, here we are.” he said abruptly 

His house wasn’t huge but it wasn’t small either

He parked his truck and as I reached for the door

He said, “I’ll get it”

He came over and opened my door and grabbed my bag

Then he offered me his hand to help me out

We went inside and the first thing I saw was the kitchen

“This is your kitchen?!?!?!”

It was beautiful and the island was huge

“Yes, this is where I do all my cooking!” he snarked back 

I know he doesn’t cook that much so that was sarcastic

He asked me, “Are you hungry for anything?”

“Not particularly, but what do you have?”

He went to the cabinets and then the fridge

Then back to the cabinets and turned to me

“We have bread and a few other random things in the fridge.”

I laughed and asked, “Like what?”

I sat down on the barstool 

And placed my arms on the counter of the Island 

“We have some cheese, tomatoes, peppers, mushrooms, 

Idk, just a bunch of stuff.”

Right then I heard the garage door shut

And his brother came walking in

And his eyes went straight to me

“Ummm, hi?” his brother said

“Oh CJ, this is Abby, Abby this is my brother CJ!”

“Hi CJ, it’s so nice to finally meet you. 

I have heard so much about you.”

He shook my hand saying “It’s nice to meet you too”

Then he looked over at his brother 

It looked like they were having a conversation 

But with only their eyes

CJ then said, “Well, I have to getup early in the morning

So you two have a great night,

Don’t stay up too late doing whatever you two planned…”

Giving us both a flirty look 

“Oh, no, it’s not like that” he said

“Yeah, I just needed a ride 

So he came and picked me up. 

My car broke down.”

CJ said, “Mmmmmhhmmm” and then left

Then we went back to figuring out food.

We ended up making whipped feta with roasted tomatoes on toast

That whole time we just talked 

Like nothing ever happened between us in the past

As if we have always been friends which was nice

Then it was getting late

We were both getting very tired

Luckily neither of us had to work in the morning

He had changed the sheets on his bed

And let me sleep in his bed while he was on the couch 

He gave me some comfy loose clothes to wear 

As I was still in my date outfit

I got in his bed and we said goodnight

At some point I fell asleep 

But that didn’t last long

Sometimes I have nightmares

And this apparently would be one of those nights

I started tossing and turning and hyperventilating 

All while I was sleeping 

I started to feel like I was shaking 

And then I woke up with a light gasp

As he was sitting beside me on the bed

With his hand on my shoulder

“Are you ok? I could hear you from the living room. 

I thought you were being attacked or something”

“Yeah, I’m ok” still trying to catch my breath

“I’ll go get you some water”

I sit up and drink the water he brings me

We sat there for a while

I’m not sure when he started rubbing my back but it helped

He started laying down in the bed beside me

The bed was plenty big for the both of us

We both laid there for a while and then he said

“Why did you go out with him?”

“Why does it matter who I go out with?”

“It doesn’t but you didn’t even know him. 

You could have gotten hurt or worse!”

“Yeah, well, it’s not like I have any other options!” I said with frustration

There was that awkward silence again

“Next time, don’t dress like that.” he finally said breaking the silence

“Excuse me? Dress like what?”

“You know…!” gesturing to my clothes on the dresser

“No, I don’t know, care to enlighten me!”

“Don’t dress like you are trying to get the attention of every human out there! 

It’s distracting”

“For you or for everyone else?” I said shyly

He looked at me with sad and longing eyes

He turned to his side to face me better

“You are distracting to me” he said looking at me

“Is that a good thing or a bad thing?”

He lifted his hand and started moving pieces of hair 

That had fallen in front of my face

He then stroke my cheek and lifted my chin slightly

He started to inch closer to to 

Our lips almost touching as he closes his eyes

“This can’t happen” he says as he pulls away

But then he says “But I don’t want anything else” 

So he grabs my face and kisses me

We lay there side by side

Lost in a deep trance

My heart burning as I feel his hands moving down my back 

But then he stops 

And says “Wake up”

Then I wake up

I had  dream last night

I have had a similar dream 

But this time I could see him 

I could see all of him fully 

His skin was an olive color

His hair was dark 

He had brown eyes

And he was tall and strong

I was at a county fair

And in a small barn

They were moving the bulls 

For bull riding 

I walk up to the side of the railing

And there he was

Leaning us against the railing

With suckers in his shirt pocket

I have a sucker in my mouth 

As I walk by

He grabs my hand 

We make eye contact and it feels like we were looking at each other 

For over an hour

But i’m sure it was only a few seconds

He grabs a sucker out of his pocket 

Takes the sucker out of my mouth 

And sticks the sucker he had in my mouth 

Then he puts my sucker in his mouth 

My one friend tried to pull me away 

But I stayed

I get up on the railing beside him 

We talk 

We watch as the bulls are being transferred 

We move out of the way a few times

To avoid getting crushed

His boss or dad comes over

Tells him he needs help with something

I sit and wait and talk to his friends

They say he’s been watching me

Not in a creepy way 

But in a “I can’t stop thinking about her” way

He comes back a few minutes later 

And he grabs my hand 

And he pulls me over to the ring

We lean on the railing and watch 

As bull rider after bull rider competes

He held me tight so I wouldn’t fall 

As it got darker and darker 

We fell deeper and deeper

And then I woke up 

Last night I had a dream

I just moved back to my hometown

There was a festival going on

It was really cold outside

I lived down the road

From where the festival was

I walked to where there was a crowd

I couldn’t quite tell what was going on 

But I heard lots of voices

Then I looked over and saw you

You looked the same as always 

But better 

You didn’t see me

I was starting to get cold

So I walked over to my favorite spot

To get a hot chocolate

On my way out

Susan saw mw and yelled my name

You were with her

And Karen and the other Abby

You turn around so fast

And start coming towards me

I can feel my face turn red

You ask me what I’m doing here

I tell you that I just moved back 

We start walking the the direction of my house 

When we stop in front of your car

Which happens to be 2 houses down from mine

They ask where my car is 

I tell them that I parked at my house

And so we all headed to my house

Then I woke up

(All those feelings I thought I didn’t have anymore for him came back. I don’t know how he ended up in my dreams. Now I keep picturing his face, dark hair, dark beard, big ears. He’s tall, hard working, respectful, and loves God. I understand why I like him, but it will never work)

I had a dream last night 

I was at my county fair 

Watching people show

You were standing close behind me

Up against the wall 

I had never seen you before

In a dream or anything

But I could see you clearly

They starting bringing in new animals

So I started to step back 

And I ended up backing into you

I started to trip and you caught me

You held me

For what felt like 5 minutes

We look at each other

And we just slip into a daze

After what felt like forever

The animals start flooding in

We break our gaze

But we stay close

Your arms wrapped around my chest

My arms hanging on yours 

We stand there

Like we’ve known each other for forever

After that round of showing

You lean down

You say your name is Justin

I tell you my name

Then we both leave the arena

We grab food and talk for hours

Eventually we run into my cousin Drew

He “dabs” you up while I stand looking confused

Drew asks you how long you have known me

You say we just met

Drew invites you to come to the camper with us

But you said you had to leave

But hopes to see us again soon 

You lean over and reach into my back pocket

You grab my phone and put your phone number in it

You text yourself so you have my number 

Then you text me “I’ll see you soon”

Later that day

I head to my grandparents house

Where they have a pond

When I get there

I see a truck I don’t recognize

I head inside and ask my grandma 

Who’s truck that is

She tells me it’s a friend of Drew’s truck 

He had just moved back here

I head to the sunroom 

Which looks out at the pond

Drew and his friend are sitting on the raft

In the middle of the deep end of the pond

I head out and take off my coverup 

Drew sees me and says hi

Then I see his friend

And it’s you, Justin 

We look at each other for a while

You jump off the raft

And start swimming towards me

I set my towel on a beach chair

Put my water in the holder 

And set my book on the chair 

And put my sunglasses on while I sit down 

You continue to come towards me

Dripping wet

You come up next to me

Letting water drip off your hand onto my dry body

You take my sunglasses off

Then you grab me and lifts me over your shoulders

You start running into the pond

I scream and laugh as you fall into the water

I come up coughing from the shock of the water

We look at each other and just laugh

Everyone else looks so confused

You pull me close to you

And I let you

My body against yours

Acting like we’ve been an actual couple

For a long time

Everyone still looks confused

Meanwhile Drew is still sitting on the raft

We decide to swim out to him 

Fighting each other the whole way there

When we get there 

We sit by him and talk some more

Drew also confused as to what just happened

So we decide to tell him the whole story of how we met

And how we have feelings for each other

We ask Drew if that would be weird

And he said it was great

Then he shoves us both back into the water

When dinner was ready 

You and I chased each other to the house

We were still pretty wet

So we sat on the back deck to dry off

We talked more then went inside 

After we were dry to grab our dinner

We sat next to each other outside

My parents looking at me like I’m crazy 

My dad starts asking you a lot of questions

My mom just smiles the whole time

Eventually the interrogations stop

And we all just enjoy the rest of the meal

I was getting changed in the bathroom 

When I overheard you talking with Drew

You said you think you have strong feelings for me

Drew asks if you are serious about this

You say you think I might be the one

I come out and say my goodbyes

You walk me to my car

You ask me when you can see me again 

I tell you I live close to here

And to just give me a call anytime

I get into my car and think

I roll down the window

And say I think i’m catching serious feelings for you

You come closer

Leans on the open car window

And you kiss me 

That kiss felt like it could last a lifetime

Then we release

I drive away 

Then I wake up 

I had a dream last night, 

I was with Amanda

We were at a farm and fleet store

Just looking around 

We walked and talked 

All around the store

At some point

The back of the store 

Turned  into a wood shop

There were a bunch of men

Covered in sawdust 

Trimming long pieces of wood

The smell of wood filled the room

At some point I was joined by more people

Genna, Emily, friends from back home

We continued to walk around

I was wearing blue overalls 

With a black shirt underneath 

I never noticed what I was wearing till now 

I kept noticing these guys

That were working 

Getting all dirty and sweaty 

I started to walk down an aisle

When someone tapped my shoulder 

It was one of the workers

He was tall but not too tall 

He wasn’t quite 6 foot

He had dark hair

A dark beard 

And had a nice smile

He started to ask me for my number

Fumbling over every word

Eventually he got it out

I reached for my phone

But it wasn’t working

I then went for my purse 

I remembered I had business cards

I would just write my number on there

At first I wrote the wrong number

I kept thinking 

“What is wrong with me”

Then I finally wrote it out

I gave him the card

And he walked away

Then I woke up

Thinking through this dream 

Something didn’t feel right

I couldn’t tell if it was me

Or if it was the guy I “met”

Or maybe it was the people I was with

I couldn’t tell what was wrong

It could have been the way 

He asked me for my number

Not being confident

Struggling over his words

It could have been the way 

My phone wasn’t working

I wrote down the wrong phone number

I couldn’t tell what was wrong

But something didn’t feel right

I have these dreams, 

Of walking across a stage and shaking someone’s hand, 

I have these dreams, 

Of feeding people who are digging through trash, 

I have these dreams, 

Of giving people a home who do not have one, 

I have these dreams, 

Of walking down the aisle in a beautiful white dress, 

I have these dreams, 

Of dancing in the kitchen, 

I have these dreams, 

Of providing a place where people can celebrate, 

I have these dreams, 

Of praying with my kids, 

I have these dreams, 

Of welcoming people into my home, 

I have these dreams, 

Of leading people to Christ, 

I have these dreams, 

Of teaching people what it means to follow Jesus, 

I have these dreams, 

Of helping people who need it, 

I have these dreams, 

Of growing old, 

I have these dreams, 

Of seeing everyone in my family worshiping in heaven, 

I have these dreams, 

Of a life filled with joy from the Holy Spirit, 

I have these dreams.
